Best harem series of 2013.
Drama, regional conflict, social inequality, a light touch of romance and a dash of comedy - what more could you possibly want in a harem anime?
This episode expounds on the social inequality theme heavily touched upon last episode. Koganuma issues Shinichi a very clear warning - he's playing a dangerous, foolhardy game, trying to implement social change in a society with very different values. It's clear that there are some who do not appreciate this move, with a minority group seizing the empress and holding her hostage. Although Shinichi managed to put out the situation with his handy fire extinguisher, the root of the problem will not be diffused so easily. Throughout the episode we get very clear reminders of how deeply rooted the society is. All the children who attend Shinichi's newly built school? Nobles. Priviliged, upper-class children with fancy clothing and a group of commoners watching from the sidelines. I would hazard a guess that the issue is not yet over...
Of course, Myuseru completely stole the show this episode. Whether it was her moé maid phrases, her request to be taken back to Japan with Shinichi, or her selfless, heroic sacrifice for a selfish, snobby brat who mistreats her, Myuseru is undoubtedly the very moé heroine of this show.
